Realities of Foreign Service Life

What Life is like in the U.S. Foreign Service

Most peoples perceptions of what constitutes a diplomatic career varies from the reality of the job itself. 'Realities of a Foreign Service Life' removes the shroud from the life of being a career diplomat.

Editors Patricia Linderman & Melissa Brayer-Hess give an extremely broad approach to the career diplomacy lifestyle by giving detailed interviews and feedback from not only diplomats from all walks of life, but foreign service trainers, managers, their spouses and family too.

The advice is again very broad and expansive. 'Realities of a Foreign Service Life' details candid moments from Foreign Service employees who provide anecdotal advice on living abroad and covers topic such as eating, dating, sleeping, buying, culture & security abroad.

This book is extremely worth the money if interested on learning about the lifestyle of working in a career diplomacy setting. It is not recommended to use this book for studying for the FSOT exam as it does not cover these topics.
